Face-to-face GP appointments for virtual healthcare providers.
When a video consultation isn't enough, Jex provides the next step: physical examinations, further assessment and follow-up at participating Mayfield Clinic locations, with a coordinated handover and clear clinical responsibilities.
Jex Health provides face-to-face GP appointments for virtual GP and digital healthcare providers whose patients need an examination or assessment that cannot be completed remotely. Appointments are delivered by Mayfield Clinic GPs at clinics in England and reported back to the referring clinician, who keeps the patient relationship.

When remote GP care needs an in-person appointment.
The General Medical Council's prescribing guidance names physical examination, and the patient's individual circumstances, as reasons why face-to-face care may be more appropriate than a remote consultation. Virtual GP services know this well. What most lack is a dependable place to send the patient that is not the NHS queue or an unknown private clinic.
The examination you cannot do on screen
An ear, a chest, an abdomen, a lump, a joint, a rash that needs touching. Your clinician knows the patient needs to be seen, and the consultation ends with advice to go elsewhere.
The assessment that needs a room
Observations, a blood test, a swab, an ECG. Without a route, your service loses the episode and the patient starts again with a stranger.
The handover that never comes back
When patients are sent to a third party, the record stops at your end. The findings, the diagnosis and the follow-up happen somewhere you cannot see.
Physical examinations through our GP network.
Locally delivered consultations, examinations and observations, with everything that follows handled by the same team and returned to you.
Face-to-face GP consultation
An MRCGP-qualified GP in a clinic room, with the time to examine properly. Booked as an escalation from your consultation or as a direct referral from your clinicians.
Physical examination
Examination against the clinical question you referred, with findings documented in a structured summary.
Observations and tests
Blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and weight at every location. Blood tests, urine and swab tests at most clinics and ECG at Oxford; we confirm what each clinic can take before any referral.
Prescribing and treatment
Private prescriptions where clinically appropriate, sent to a pharmacy near the patient, and minor procedures within a GP's scope.
Onward referral
Specialist referral, imaging and physiotherapy through Mayfield's network when the examination finds something that needs it, or back to your pathway if you prefer.
A clinical summary for your record
A structured outcome for every episode, returned to your clinical team with the patient's consent, so your record is complete.
When might your patients need face-to-face care?
Three illustrative examples. None is a guarantee that a presentation can safely wait for a scheduled appointment, and the emergency and urgent routes stay explicit in every pathway we agree.
An ear examination
A patient has symptoms that need otoscopic examination, which cannot be completed over video. The GP examines, treats where appropriate and reports the findings to your clinician.
Cardiorespiratory assessment
A patient needs in-person observations or a chest examination following remote triage, where the clinical urgency allows a scheduled appointment rather than an urgent service.
A physical examination
An abdominal concern, a joint problem, a lump or another symptom that cannot be assessed adequately remotely and needs a clinician's hands and a proper look.
Where your clinician judges that a patient needs same-day or emergency care, they are directed to NHS urgent services and not to a Jex appointment. We agree the thresholds with your clinical team at onboarding.
One connected clinical journey.
You keep the patient relationship. We provide the appointment and the findings. Partner-managed referral to begin with, using the workflow your clinicians already have.
Refer
Your clinician identifies the need and sends a referral with the clinical question, what has already been done and the urgency, through a secure route agreed at onboarding.
Book
We book the patient into the nearest participating Mayfield clinic with capacity, at a time that matches the urgency, and tell them where, when and what to bring.
Assess
A Mayfield GP examines and assesses as the referral asks, free to act on what they find, including tests, prescribing and onward referral.
Report
A structured clinical summary returns to your clinician within an agreed time, with results as they arrive and a clear statement of who follows up.
Fast access to available appointments.
Face-to-face appointments run at Mayfield's clinic locations in England, from Exeter to Altrincham, with Oxford as the flagship and four clinics inside the M25. Capacity is sessional and differs by town, so we confirm which clinics can serve your patients, on which days, before anything is agreed, and report time-to-appointment monthly rather than promise it in advance. Video and telephone follow-up with the same GP is available to patients anywhere in the UK.
If your patients are concentrated somewhere we are not yet, we can add locations as part of a structured go-live: a sessional room, local GPs and agreed capacity, set up and tested before your launch date rather than promised afterwards.

Deep integration, when you want it.
Start with a secure referral form on day one. When volumes justify it, connect your platform to ours: book directly into Mayfield's clinical system and receive the clinical documentation back after the appointment, without anyone re-keying anything.
Live availability
A read-only feed of appointment availability, so your clinicians and your booking flow can see when a patient could be seen before they refer. Our video availability feed is already public.
Book by API
Create the appointment straight into Mayfield's clinical and booking system, Hero Health, with your referral and the patient's consent attached. The patient gets the same confirmation and reminders as every Mayfield patient.
Documentation back
After the appointment, the structured clinical summary, findings and results are returned to your system by API or secure transfer, in a format we agree, so your record is complete without a human in the loop.
In your brand or ours
Patient-facing messages can carry your name. Identity, consent and clinical responsibility are handled the same way whichever route the booking came in by.
The integration is scoped as a one-off piece of work with your engineering team and tested before launch. Most partners start on the form and connect once the referral pattern is settled. How the integration works.
White-label and partner-branded options.
An extension of your existing digital service, in whichever name suits your patients. Subject to the operational and technical arrangements we agree at onboarding.
In your name
Patient communications and appointment confirmations can carry your brand, so the face-to-face appointment feels like part of your service. The clinic, the GP and the clinical record remain Mayfield's, and patients are told so.
In ours, or both
A Mayfield-branded or co-branded journey where that is simpler or clearer for the patient. Decided once at onboarding, not per patient.
Flexible appointment purchasing.
No subscription and no minimum to start. You pay for the appointments your patients attend, at a tariff agreed in writing, and move to dedicated sessions when your volumes justify it.
Shared capacity, usage-based
Refer into available Mayfield appointments at a single agreed tariff per completed face-to-face consultation. The right start for almost every partner.
Dedicated sessions
Sessions held for your patients at agreed locations, on a minimum session fee or volume commitment, once shared capacity is no longer enough.
Itemised extras
Blood tests, other investigations and prescriptions at contracted rates, so a referral has a known cost before it is made.
Reporting
Monthly activity, time-to-appointment, outcome categories and service reporting against the contract, with a named account lead.
Cancellations
A cancellation policy agreed up front, so a missed appointment is never a surprise on either side.
Integration
Referral by secure form or email from day one. When you are ready, your platform books directly into our clinical system by API and receives the clinical documentation back after the appointment, scoped as a one-off piece of work and tested before launch.
Clear clinical responsibilities.
Each episode is delivered under Mayfield Clinic's registration. Mayfield's GP is responsible for the care given in the room and for acting on what they find. Your clinician is responsible for the referral and the ongoing relationship. Who follows up abnormal results, who contacts the patient's NHS GP and when, and what is shared with whom are written into the partnership agreement before the first referral.
Care is delivered by MRCGP-qualified GPs under Mayfield Clinic's CQC registration and clinical leadership. Escalation, safeguarding and complaints routes are agreed with your clinical team before the first patient is seen. About Mayfield Clinic.
Questions partners ask.
What happens when a virtual GP patient needs a physical examination?
Your clinician refers the patient to Jex with the clinical question. We book them into the nearest participating Mayfield clinic with capacity, a Mayfield GP examines and assesses them, and a structured summary comes back to your clinician. Where the patient needs same-day or emergency care, your clinician directs them to NHS urgent services instead.
Can Jex accept patients following consultations with another GP provider?
Yes. That is the service. We accept referrals from virtual GP providers, digital health platforms and their clinicians, with the referral carrying the question you want answered and what has already been done.
Can our clinicians book appointments directly?
Yes. On day one, referrals come through a secure form and the Jex team books the patient. When you want it, your platform books directly into Mayfield's clinical and booking system by API, reading live availability first, and receives the clinical documentation back after the appointment. The integration is scoped with your engineering team and tested before launch.
How quickly can patients access physical GP appointments?
It depends on the location and the urgency. Oxford has the most clinic days; other towns run sessional clinics on set days. We confirm typical time-to-appointment per clinic at onboarding and report against it monthly. For urgent cases we agree an escalation route rather than make a promise a sessional rota cannot keep.
Can Jex return consultation notes to the referring clinician?
Yes. A structured clinical summary goes back to your clinician within an agreed time for every episode, with results as they arrive, with the patient's consent. The full clinical record stays with Mayfield as the provider.
Who is responsible for follow-up and abnormal test results?
Mayfield's GP is responsible for the care given in the appointment and for acting on results they ordered, including contacting the patient. Who then carries the ongoing care, you or Mayfield, is agreed in writing at onboarding, so no result falls between two services.
Can we retain our own patient-facing brand?
Yes. Patient communications and confirmations can carry your brand, subject to the arrangements we agree at onboarding. The clinic, the GP and the clinical record remain Mayfield's, and patients are told so.
How much does outsourced face-to-face GP fulfilment cost?
A single agreed tariff per completed face-to-face GP appointment, in the same range as a standard private GP consultation at Mayfield Clinic, with tests and prescriptions itemised at contracted rates. Volume pricing and dedicated sessions bring the unit cost down. There is no subscription or minimum to start. We give an indicative tariff after one scoping conversation and confirm it in writing.
